Why Does Tennessee’s Academic Detailing Program Matter?
-
I have appreciated the opportunity to serve on the board and participate as its chair as this group bridges some of the information, training and access to care issues between opioid prescribers and substance use treatment providers. Often we are siloed into Department of Health and Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services groups with limited opportunities for interaction. OneTN makes these needed conversations possible.
-
Ending the opioid epidemic is a complex and difficult task that has been made harder by the pandemic of COVID-19. I am convinced that the vast majority of prescribers want to deliver safe and effective pain management, and I'm excited to see real change that benefits patients and clinicians.
-
Opioid Use Disorder is a chronic medical disease with complex behavioral manifestations that often result in profound personal, familial, and societal harm. As research continues to deepen our understanding of addiction and the brain, evidence-based approaches offer greater opportunities to prevent substance use disorders and support recovery. Through the delivery of current, evidence-based education, OneTennessee is committed to preventing addiction, improving outcomes, and saving lives.
